Giving Needs to Others

Sofía Giraldo Mantilla 5A

Last year, my mom and I were organizing my room, when I had an idea: give the clothes I didn't wear anymore, (but were in good conditions) to someone who really needed them. That afternoon we were taking out my clothes, putting them in bags, and classifying them as well. When we finished it was already dark, it was 9:30pm, and the lights went out. I was very scared,

but 5 minutes later, the light came back. We saw that all of our hard work had been in vain, the clothes where everywhere. We were so sad, we said; " continue tomorrow morning" On the next day, we did the same thing we had done the day before, but without classifying the clothes. When we finished, we dressed up and went in the car through Cedritos searching a family

in the streets. However, when we were getting there, we saw we had a flat tire. Since we were near to a gasoline station, the workers helped us with it. While we were there, I started thinking about the risks giving the clothes could bring. I told my mom that maybe that person could take this as an offence, and attack us, or maybe react in an unexpected way, but she told me "don't worry everything will be okay, just remember that we are helping someone who really needs it, if we want to do want to do this is because God wanted that we think about others, and not just in ourselves", I gave a big hug to my mom after she told me that. I was no longer afraid, I felt more safer. We arrived and a lady told us "Please give me a little bit of money" and I saw carefully how people closed the windows and ignore her, but when she was she in our window my mom said "do you want this clothes for you and your children?" Gloria said yes. When she received the clothes she smiled. Finally, arriving to our home my mom told me "we need to be thankful with God for giving us a home, health, and food. Look how many people need to search in trash cans for food and ask for money in the street, so with that can buy bread and water" I said "Yes mom, you are right"
