Valentine’s day is a date in which everyone wants to do something special; doesn’t matter if it is with you special someone or with your friends just for not staying home and lonely. I think some people love this day as much as Christmas but some of them just hate it and do everything to ignore it. For me, it is a special date and I always want to spend it in the best way. Obviously, that depends on whether I have a special someone or I´m just hanging out with my friends. Each girl wishes for a perfect date on Valentine’s Day, and clearly each one’s ideas are different.

The different types of dates could vary from to spending the whole afternoon in a park looking at the sunset, to going out to an ostentatious restaurant and then go shopping (of course the boy pays for everything). In my case, the perfect Valentine’s date is to lay down on a mat in the middle of nowhere so that we are alone and just watching the stars. Stars are something important in my life and they make me connect with the whole universe: sharing this unique place with that special someone would make me feel that I am connected to him and to everything that surrounds us.

Even though everyone has a perfect date, having that special person beside you is just enough for the whole situation to be perfect (well, if you really care about him or her). Valentine’s day is definitely surrounded by clichés, but it will never stop being as romantic and special as it has been ever since it was created. The whole tradition began as a day to honor saints called Valentinus. In England during the 18th century, it evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their feelings for each other by presenting flowers, and some greeting cards (known as “valentines”). The connotation of romantic love of Valentine’s day was then born as a special date in which lovers remember how much they loved each other. However, even if this special date exists, don’t forget to show your love for others every single day!
