Every city in the world has its own history that makes it what it is now. Every time that someone mentions a city, you immediately have a perspective of what happens in it or what it is characterized for. What would happen if I mentioned New Orleans? Probably, you will think of a city located in the United States that is characterized for its big parties and mysteries. But, do you really know more than that?
This year is New Orleans’s three hundred anniversary and to celebrate it I wanted to talk a little bit of the secrets and the carnivals of this city. New Orleans is a city that is full of mysteries; there are so many that they have permeated the city´s culture throughout the years. From voodoo magic to plundering pirates, New Orleans is considered to be one of the most haunted cities in the United States. The place that is considered the most haunted one is the French Quarter: a place where every step that you make, every door or window that you see or every sound that you hear there could be the home of a New Orleans’s ghost. Every home that you see could be haunted and ghosts could be tormenting the living.
Lalaurie Mansion is also recognized as one of the most haunted places in the whole city, and, considering that it is part of the most haunted city of the U.S, that is a pretty substantial claim. The place is full of the ghosts that once were Madame Lalaurie’s slaves. This woman mistreated her slaves until the point to let them die of hunger. On April 10 of 1834, a fire started and most of her slaves died in that incident. The majority of people that have had the opportunity to be near the mansion say they felt a negative energy surrounding them.
There are nearly twenty-five haunted places to visit in the city, all of them have a story just like the Lalaurie Mansion and they are all well-known. However, this city is not only famous for its haunted places but also for its big parties. In this city, they celebrate almost everything and all the parties are considered amazing. If you have the opportunity to go once to New Orleans, don’t miss the tours through the haunted places and go to a party, they are the best.
